Areas We Serve From Our Des Moines Office

Des Moines sits in the middle of south King County, ten minutes from Sea-Tac and a straightforward drive from Seattle, Kent and Federal Way. Patients come to this office from across the corridor for treatment their own dentist has referred out.

Kent. East along Kent–Des Moines Road. Kent is the largest community we serve from this office, and the most common reason for the trip is implant treatment — single dental implants through to full mouth dental implants.

Burien. A few minutes north on 1st Avenue S or Des Moines Memorial Drive. Burien patients often come for dentures, denture relines and the move to implant-retained snap-on dentures.

Federal Way. South on I-5 or Pacific Highway S. This is where the practice began, and long-standing patients still travel up for full mouth reconstruction and complex crown-and-bridge work.

Normandy Park. Immediately north of us along the water — our closest neighbouring community, and a five-minute drive.

SeaTac and Seattle. North on Highway 99 or I-5. For Seattle patients, a specialist appointment here means a shorter drive and easier parking than a downtown practice, which is why we see a steady flow of implant and cosmetic cases from the city.

Redondo, Woodmont and Zenith. Our immediate Des Moines neighbourhoods, all within a few minutes of the office.

Dental Implants & Full-Arch Solutions Led by a Prosthodontist

Smiling older couple relaxing together at home

Dental implants replace missing teeth with titanium posts that integrate with your jawbone, functioning like natural tooth roots. Dr. Yoon has placed over 5,000 implants across 30+ years of practice, using advanced digital technology for precision and predictability.

Specialist-led implant dentistry includes:

  • Same-day implants with immediate temporary restoration when bone allows
  • All-on-4 and All-on-6 full-arch treatment for patients missing most or all teeth
  • Bicon short implants for patients with limited bone height
  • Computer-guided implant surgery using CBCT 3D imaging
  • PRF therapy for faster healing and reduced discomfort after placement

Prosthodontist planning considers your entire bite—not just individual tooth replacement—ensuring implants function properly with opposing teeth and surrounding structures.

All-on-4 and All-on-6 replace an entire arch of teeth using just four or six strategically positioned implants. This approach provides stability, renewed bite function, and a confident smile for patients with multiple missing teeth.

Fixed restoration that doesn’t come out like dentures—eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

Same-day implants mean the implant and temporary restoration are placed in one appointment when bone density supports it. Digital planning through CBCT imaging and computer-guided placement create predictable outcomes with reduced downtime.

Fewer appointments, immediate function, and prosthodontist expertise ensure successful immediate-load cases.

Many patients are told they need extensive bone grafting before implants. Bicon short implants are designed wider and shorter to succeed in limited bone without major grafting procedures.

Less invasive surgery, faster recovery, excellent stability—ideal for patients with bone loss who want to avoid sinus lifts or ridge augmentation.

Invisalign Treatment – Elite Provider Serving Des Moines

Dentist holding a clear Invisalign aligner tray

As an Invisalign Elite Provider, Dr. Yoon uses proven accelerated protocols that reduce treatment time from the typical 11–18 months to under 6 months for most cases. Prosthodontist oversight ensures proper bite alignment, not just straight teeth.

Invisalign treatment advantages:

  • Nearly invisible clear aligners
  • Removable for eating and cleaning
  • Digital Invisalign planning shows preview before you start
  • Elite Provider protocols speed results
  • Suitable for adults and teens

Adult-focused care means treatment plans accommodate professional lifestyles without dietary restrictions or metal brackets.

We use iTero digital scanning—no goopy impression molds. The scanner captures precise 3D images of your teeth in minutes, creating better-fitting aligners and showing an immediate preview of expected results.

Comfortable, accurate, and you see what your smile will look like before committing to treatment.

Cosmetic Dentistry & Smile Transformation

Woman smiling confidently after cosmetic dental treatment

Prosthodontists are aesthetic restoration specialists—trained to design smiles that look natural and function properly for decades. Dr. Yoon uses Digital Smile Design to preview complex cosmetic cases before treatment begins.

Cosmetic services include:

  • Porcelain veneers (including minimal-prep veneers)
  • Composite bonding for chips, gaps, and reshaping
  • Professional whitening treatments (Zoom and Opalescence)
  • Smile makeovers combining multiple procedures
  • Custom shade matching for seamless results

Veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to front teeth to correct shape, color, spacing, or minor alignment. Minimal-prep veneers preserve more natural tooth structure while delivering dramatic aesthetic improvement.

Composite bonding repairs chips, closes gaps, and reshapes teeth in a single visit—conservative, reversible, and natural-looking results.

Zoom in-office whitening: Dramatic results in about an hour—ideal for events or quick smile transformation.

Opalescence take-home whitening: Gradual whitening over 1-2 weeks using custom trays—gentler for sensitive teeth.

Both deliver professional-grade results far beyond drugstore whitening strips.

Sleep Apnea & TMD Therapy in Des Moines, WA

Custom oral appliances provide a CPAP alternative for sleep apnea and snoring. Oral appliance therapy repositions the jaw during sleep to keep airways open, reducing snoring and apnea events.

For TMD and bruxism, Dr. Yoon offers therapeutic Botox, custom nightguards, and bite alignment therapy to reduce jaw pain, headaches, and tooth wear.

Prosomnus devices are precision-fitted oral appliances that treat snoring and sleep apnea without CPAP machines. Quieter than CPAP, easier to travel with, and more comfortable for many patients.

We coordinate with sleep physicians for proper diagnosis and work with medical billing for insurance coverage.

Teeth grinding (bruxism) causes tooth wear, jaw pain, and morning headaches. Custom nightguards protect teeth while therapeutic Botox relaxes overactive jaw muscles.

Dr. Yoon’s prosthodontic training in bite mechanics means TMD therapy addresses root causes—not just symptoms—through proper bite alignment and muscle relaxation.

Insurance, Financing and Payment

Insurance. We accept Delta Dental and UHC. If you are covered by another plan we file your claim as an out-of-network provider, which on most PPO plans still returns a meaningful share of the treatment cost. Bring your plan details to your consultation and we will tell you what to expect before you commit to anything.

Does dental insurance cover implants? Increasingly yes, but partially and never in full. Most plans that cover implants treat them the way they treat a crown or a bridge, apply an annual maximum, and sometimes apply a waiting period. Full-arch treatment almost always exceeds what a plan will pay in one year. Where it helps, we can stage treatment across two benefit years so you use two annual maximums instead of one.

Financing. We work with CareCredit, Cherry, LendingClub and HFD, which between them cover short interest-free plans and longer monthly terms. Approval is usually decided while you are in the office.

Estimates. Every treatment plan comes with a written estimate before treatment is scheduled. Implant and full-mouth cases vary widely depending on bone volume, how many teeth are involved, whether grafting is needed and which materials are used, so a real figure only means something after an examination and 3D imaging. We will not quote you a number over the phone that changes once you sit in the chair.

Starting Treatment at Our Des Moines Office

The first step is a consultation, not a commitment. We examine, image, explain what we find in plain language, and give you a written plan and estimate to take away. If the right answer is simpler than you feared, we will tell you that too.

Yes, we are accepting new adult patients at our Des Moines office. Call (253) 201-2519 to book. Your first visit is a consultation rather than a treatment appointment: an examination, any 3D imaging your case needs, then a written treatment plan and estimate.

No. Blooming Dental focuses exclusively on adult dentistry — complex restorative cases, dental implants, full-mouth reconstruction, cosmetic work, Invisalign and TMJ care.

Prosthodontists complete three additional years of specialty training after dental school, focused entirely on replacing and restoring teeth. General dentists refer their most complex cases to prosthodontists. Dr. Yoon holds dual specialty training in orthodontics and prosthodontics and has placed more than 5,000 implants over 30+ years.

It depends on bone volume, whether grafting or a sinus lift is needed, how many teeth are being replaced, whether the restoration is a single crown or a full arch, and which materials are used. We give you a written estimate after an examination and CBCT 3D imaging, and discuss financing through CareCredit, Cherry, LendingClub or HFD before you decide.

Conventional dentures, implant-retained snap-on dentures and fixed full-arch implant bridges sit at very different price points, and the right one depends on how much bone you have and how much stability you want. We price each realistic option in writing so you can compare them properly.

Dentures are removable, cost less up front and can be made quickly, but they rest on the gums and the bone underneath continues to shrink, which is why they need relining and eventually stop fitting. Implants are placed in the bone, which preserves it, and bite like natural teeth. Between the two sits a snap-on denture retained by a small number of implants — most of the stability, a fraction of the cost of a fixed full arch.

Many plans now offer partial coverage, usually treating the implant restoration like a crown or bridge and applying the annual maximum. Coverage is rarely complete, and full-arch treatment normally exceeds a single year’s benefit. Where it helps, we can stage treatment across two benefit years to use two annual maximums.

A bridge uses the teeth on either side of a gap as supports, which means preparing two healthy teeth. An implant stands on its own and preserves the bone where the tooth was. If the neighbouring teeth are healthy, an implant is usually the better long-term answer; if they already need crowns, a bridge can solve two problems at once. CBCT imaging at your consultation shows whether there is enough bone for an implant.

Yes. We design and mill crowns in our office, with many cases completed in a single visit. For implants, same-day placement with an immediate temporary restoration is possible when bone density and stability allow — CBCT imaging tells us whether you are a candidate.

As an Invisalign Elite Provider, Dr. Yoon uses protocols that shorten treatment compared with typical timelines. Simple cases can finish in a few months; comprehensive cases take longer. You get an estimated timeline from your digital scan before you start.

Yes. We provide oral appliance therapy using Prosomnus devices — custom-fitted appliances that treat obstructive sleep apnea and snoring by holding the airway open during sleep.

No. We do not perform wisdom tooth extractions and refer those cases to an oral surgeon. Dr. Yoon is a prosthodontist, not an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. We do perform other extractions where they form part of a restorative or implant plan.

We treat under local anaesthetic with nitrous oxide for patients who want help relaxing. We do not offer IV sedation or general anaesthesia.

Yes. We work with CareCredit, Cherry, LendingClub and HFD, covering short interest-free plans and longer monthly terms. Approval is usually decided while you are in the office.
